"I've used up all my chances. I've failed too many times. God is done with me."
How it sounds in your head: You've blown it again—lost your temper with the kids, said things you can't unsay to your husband, made the same stupid choice for the hundredth time. God must be exhausted with you. Surely there's a limit to grace, and you've hit it.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religious teaching that grace has limits and patience runs out, mixed with human relationship patterns where people do abandon you after repeated failure.
You've confessed the same sin so many times you've lost count. You've promised to change and haven't. If YOU were God, you'd be done with you by now. Every human in your life has limits—surely God does too.
Peter denied Jesus three times with cursing, abandoned Him at the cross, and went back to fishing like it was over. Jesus appeared, made him breakfast, restored him completely without a single rebuke, and gave him the keys to launch the Church—all in one morning conversation.
I REFUSE the lie that I've exhausted God's patience. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are new EVERY MORNING and His compassions never fail. I am not a project God abandoned—I am a daughter He runs toward with fresh grace every single day. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, and I am IN CHRIST. His commitment to me is not based on my track record but on His unchanging nature. The blood of Jesus doesn't lose power with repeat application. I stand in FRESH MERCY today, this hour, this moment.
While you're mentally tallying your failures and assuming God is too, the Father is saying what He said to Peter: 'Do you love Me? Then feed My sheep.' He's not counting your falls—He's commissioning your future, seeing who you're becoming in Him, not who you were yesterday.
