"I've struggled with same-sex attraction; I must not really be saved or Spirit-filled."
How it sounds in your head: You're a worship leader, a Bible study teacher, a mother—but you still have these thoughts, these feelings toward women. If you were truly born again, this would be gone. The fact that it's still there proves you're either not really saved or you're in willful rebellion. You can never tell anyone.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10Religious teaching that certain temptations prove lack of salvation, plus cultural shame around same-sex attraction creating isolation and hiding.
She's heard testimonies of instant deliverance from homosexuality and believes her ongoing attraction proves she's different—either unfixable or not truly saved. The attraction feels like evidence of spiritual deficiency rather than simply temptation.
Paul had a 'thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan'—something that tormented him repeatedly. He begged God THREE times to remove it. God said NO and instead gave GRACE. Paul was an apostle, wrote Scripture, planted churches—and still lived with an unremoved thorn. His anointing wasn't dependent on the thorn's removal but on grace's sufficiency.
I REFUSE the lie that ongoing temptation proves I'm not saved or not Spirit-filled. IT IS WRITTEN: I am saved by GRACE through FAITH, not by the absence of certain temptations. My righteousness is a GIFT, not an achievement based on which thoughts I battle. IT IS WRITTEN: His grace is SUFFICIENT for me, and His strength is made perfect in my weakness. I am SEALED by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption—nothing can snatch me from the Father's hand. I walk in the power of the Spirit NOT to prove my salvation but BECAUSE I am saved. I am the beloved daughter of the Most High, fully accepted, fully loved, fully empowered to walk in holiness by His grace.
The Father isn't questioning your salvation or waiting for this attraction to disappear before He fully accepts you. He's running toward you with the seal of the Spirit on your forehead, declaring you are HIS, you are LOVED, you are FILLED with His presence, and His grace is more than enough for every battle you face.
