"I ghosted someone I was serious with. That cowardice proves I'll always run when things get hard."
How it sounds in your head: You were in a real relationship, and instead of having a hard conversation, you just... disappeared. Blocked them, avoided them, never gave closure. You know it was cruel, and you're terrified you'll do it again when life gets difficult.
"being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Enemy accusation that one failure defines permanent character plus shame-based identity instead of Christ-based identity.
He genuinely regrets how he handled it and sees the pattern of conflict-avoidance in his life. It feels like proof of a fatal character flaw.
Peter denied Jesus THREE times—swore he didn't know Him, ran when it mattered most, absolute cowardice in the critical moment. Jesus' response after resurrection? Made him breakfast, restored him with 'Feed My sheep,' and gave him the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM. Zero probation, immediate reinstatement to leadership.
I REFUSE the lie that one act of cowardice defines my character forever. IT IS WRITTEN that He who BEGAN a good work in me will COMPLETE it. Peter denied Jesus three times and became the ROCK of the church. Jonah RAN from God and still completed his assignment. I am not my worst relational moment—I am being TRANSFORMED by the renewing of my mind. IT IS WRITTEN that God's calling on my life is IRREVOCABLE. I am not a coward; I am a SON being conformed to the image of Christ. The enemy wants me defined by failure, but my Father defines me by the BLOOD OF JESUS. I walk in the courage that comes from knowing I'm already ACCEPTED.
Your Father doesn't see you as the guy who ghosted someone. He sees you as the son He's perfecting, and He's CONFIDENT He'll complete the work. Peter's failure didn't change Jesus' plan for him—neither does yours.
