"I've made too many wrong decisions in my twenties. I can't recover from this much lost ground."
How it sounds in your head: I chose the wrong degree, wrong city, wrong relationships, wrong jobs. Every choice compounded into more delay. Other guys made smart moves and are reaping it. I'm reaping my stupidity, and there's no reset button. These consequences are permanent.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Source: Religious karma theology that teaches sowing and reaping as inescapable punishment, denying the power of redemption to RESTORE wasted years.
You can trace every current struggle back to a specific bad decision you made years ago. Cause and effect seem to prove you're living in the consequences of your own foolishness.
Jacob got tricked into marrying the wrong woman and had to work 7 extra years—14 years total for massive deception. Yet God STILL blessed him abundantly, making him exceedingly prosperous despite starting in the wrong marriage and massive debt.
I REFUSE the lie that my wrong decisions have disqualified me or created permanent consequences. IT IS WRITTEN that God will RESTORE the years the locust has eaten—not just stop the bleeding but RESTORE what was lost. Jacob worked 14 years through deception for the wrong wife, yet God blessed him into wealth anyway. The prodigal blew EVERYTHING and was restored in minutes. IT IS WRITTEN that I am redeemed from the CURSE, and that includes the curse of reaping only what I've sown. I sow bad decisions but reap GRACE because I'm under a better covenant. The BARAK blessing protected liars, deceivers, and rebels—how much more does it cover my mistakes under the blood of Jesus? I receive RESTORATION of wasted years and REDEMPTION of wrong turns into right destinations.
The Father isn't adding up your bad decisions like a cosmic accountant determining how much you deserve to suffer—He's already RUNNING toward you with restoration, seeing your wrong turns as opportunities to showcase His redemptive power. What you call wasted years, He calls backstory for a testimony.
