"I've hurt too many people and God won't move until I make it all right."
How it sounds in your head: When I look back at my life—the relationships I damaged, the words I can't take back, the people I hurt who are now gone—how can God bless me when I've left such wreckage? Some of those people have died. I can never make it right.
"Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:14Source: Performance theology that makes God's movement contingent on your ability to fix the past, imprisoning you to impossible standards and negating the sufficiency of the cross.
The list of hurts is real and long, spanning decades. Some people you wounded are no longer alive to reconcile with. The impossibility of making it all right feels like proof you're stuck forever.
Zacchaeus had extorted an entire town for years—countless families robbed, children going hungry because of his greed. Jesus invited Himself to Zacchaeus' house BEFORE any restitution, declared 'Today salvation has come to this house' BEFORE he paid anyone back, and Zacchaeus' offer to restore came FROM salvation, not FOR salvation.
I REFUSE the lie that I must repair all damage before God moves. IT IS WRITTEN that the handwriting of requirements against me was NAILED TO THE CROSS—past tense, finished. Jesus went to Zacchaeus' house BEFORE restitution was made. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL A SINNER, Christ died for me—not after I fixed everything. My inability to repair the past doesn't block God's blessing NOW. The BARAK covered Jacob even after he deceived his father and brother. I stand in BETTER covenant with COMPLETE forgiveness. God is moving NOW, not waiting.
The Father sees the weight of regret you carry and offers to take it from you THIS MOMENT. He's not waiting for you to achieve the impossible—He's inviting you to receive what Jesus already accomplished on the cross.
