"I've had so many dark thoughts about God. That's blaspheming the Holy Spirit."
How it sounds in your head: When things got hard, I had thoughts I'm ashamed to repeat. Cursing Him, questioning if He's even good, imagining He enjoys my suffering. Those thoughts came from somewhere dark, and now I feel spiritually dead inside.
"Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that woe and well-being proceed?"
-- Lamentations 3:38Religious teaching that intrusive thoughts equal deliberate sin, that 'as a man thinks, so is he' makes thoughts the unforgivable sin.
She's been taught to 'take every thought captive' but never taught that intrusive thoughts aren't the same as agreement. Her inability to stop the thoughts feels like proof of spiritual death.
Jeremiah accused God of deceiving him, cursed the day he was born, wished he'd died in the womb, and said God overpowered him. These accusations are SCRIPTURE—God included them in His holy Word and never revoked Jeremiah's prophet status.
I REFUSE the lie that intrusive dark thoughts are blasphemy. IT IS WRITTEN that Jeremiah accused God of deception and Job accused Him of injustice, and both are called righteous. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is seeing Jesus' miracles and calling them satanic, not having thoughts I hate during suffering. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:38-39 that NOTHING separates me from God's love—not height, depth, nor ANY other created thing. My thoughts are created things. They don't have power to cut me off. I am Abraham's seed by faith, covered by the BARAK that never wavered despite human failing. God included doubt and accusation in Scripture—He can handle mine.
The Father knows the difference between intrusive thoughts you hate and deliberate rejection you embrace—He's not holding your worst mental moments against you but grieving that you've believed they matter more than Jesus' blood. He's whispering, 'I'm still here, I never left,' waiting for you to hear Him over the accusations.
