"I've doubted too much over the years for God to accept me now"
How it sounds in your head: I've questioned everything - God's existence, Jesus' resurrection, whether prayer works. I've had more doubts than beliefs some years. Now at the end, how can He accept someone who spent decades wrestling with unbelief? Real believers don't doubt like I have.
"And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire"
-- Jude 1:22Religion presents faith as unwavering certainty, making a lifetime of honest questions evidence of rejection instead of relationship.
You remember specific moments of profound doubt and assume God was keeping score. The years of questions feel like disqualifying evidence.
Gideon doubted God's word so severely he demanded THREE miraculous signs - the fleece wet, then dry, then wet again. God PATIENTLY provided all three signs without rebuke and still used him to deliver Israel.
I REFUSE the lie that my years of doubt have exhausted God's patience. IT IS WRITTEN that Gideon demanded three miraculous proofs because of doubt and God provided them all with compassion. My Father has 'compassion on doubters' according to Jude 1:22 - He's not tallying my questions as evidence against me. IT IS WRITTEN in John 6:37 that Jesus will NEVER cast out the one who comes - and I'm coming now, doubts and all. I am the BRANCH connected to the VINE - my wobbling faith doesn't sever the connection He maintains. The BARAK blessing covered JACOB THE DECEIVER for a lifetime; it covers me in my honest uncertainty.
Your Father sees your lifetime of wrestling and calls it relationship, not rebellion. He's the Father who let Gideon test Him three times and still called him 'mighty warrior' - He's running toward your honest doubt with embrace, not exile.
