"I've disappointed God by not staying physically beautiful"
How it sounds in your head: You look in the mirror and see sagging skin, age spots, a body that doesn't resemble what it once was. You feel invisible, like you've lost what made you valuable. Surely God is disappointed that you didn't maintain the temple better.
"Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God."
-- 1 Peter 3:3-4World's lie that female value equals physical beauty, mixed with religion twisting 'your body is a temple' into condemnation for aging.
Culture worships youth and beauty. You see younger women and remember when that was you. Your husband used to look at you differently. Now you feel like you've failed at the one thing women are supposed to maintain.
Sarah was 90 years old, decades past menopause, when God gave her Isaac. Her aged, barren body became the vessel for the miracle that birthed nations. God didn't need her young; He chose her OLD to show that His power perfects in weakness.
I REFUSE the lie that my aging body disappoints God. IT IS WRITTEN that incorruptible beauty of the spirit is what's precious to Him, and that beauty INCREASES with age. I reject the world's equation of worth with youth and receive my Father's delight over who I am NOW. IT IS WRITTEN in Song of Solomon 4:7 that He says I am 'altogether beautiful' with NO flaw in me - not because of my skin but because of His grace. My physical body may age, but my spirit is being RENEWED day by day. God looks at me and sees RADIANT beauty.
The Father doesn't look at your 85-year-old body with disappointment. He sees a daughter who has walked with Him for decades, whose beauty has transformed from external to eternal, and He whispers, 'You are MORE beautiful to Me now than ever.'
