"I've become too cynical and bitter to have real faith again."
How it sounds in your head: I can see through every manipulation, every cliché, every emotional appeal. The innocence I had is gone, and with it went my ability to simply trust. I'm ruined for naive faith.
"I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars... Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love."
-- Revelation 2:2-4Trauma from spiritual abuse that made discernment feel like disqualification from childlike faith.
She's been burned by trusted leaders and can't turn off her skepticism. The wariness that protects her feels like it's also blocking her from encountering God.
When told about Jesus, Nathanael responded with cynical skepticism: 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth?' Jesus called him 'an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit' and promised him greater revelation—skepticism didn't disqualify him; it proved his integrity.
I REFUSE the lie that my hard-won discernment has disqualified me from faith. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus commended the church for testing false apostles and finding them liars—my skepticism is wisdom, not sin. I am not too cynical; I am finally awake. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus praised Nathanael's skepticism and called him a true Israelite. My bitterness from abuse doesn't cancel God's blessing. The BARAK covered Abraham even when he grew cynical about God's promise and laughed. I am blessed by covenant, not by emotional innocence. I declare that mature faith with eyes open is MORE valuable than naive faith with eyes closed.
The Father isn't asking you to become naive again—He's inviting you to discover that He's the one Person who won't manipulate you. Your discernment is a GIFT, and He wants to love you with your eyes wide open.
