"I've already been blessed enough for one lifetime."
How it sounds in your head: I've lived 90+ years. I've had so many blessings already. Who am I to want more when others haven't had what I've had? Expecting more feels greedy after everything God has already done.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Source: Religious teaching that God's blessings have a quota and wanting more after receiving much is ingratitude.
She can recount decades of blessings and feels like wanting more diminishes gratitude for what she's had. Religion taught her that enough is enough.
At 80 years old, having already lived a full, blessed life, King David wanted to bring him to the palace for ongoing provision and honor. Age didn't disqualify him from MORE blessing—it qualified him for CONTINUED blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that God's blessings have a lifetime quota. IT IS WRITTEN that He is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think—PRESENT TENSE, including TODAY. The Israelites got FRESH manna DAILY for 40 years—His mercies are NEW EVERY MORNING, including this one. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming IN and going OUT—my exit season is as blessed as every season before. The BARAK blessing doesn't expire with age. I receive FRESH provision, NEW mercies, and ABUNDANT blessing for every remaining day.
Your Father isn't cutting you off because you've 'had enough.' He's the God of NEW EVERY MORNING, FRESH provision, CONTINUING mercies. He's running toward you with MORE—not because you need to prove anything, but because He delights in lavishing goodness on His daughter at EVERY age.
