"It's greedy or selfish to want financial blessing when I should just be thankful for what I have."
How it sounds in your head: I feel bad when I want nicer things or dream about having more. Aren't Christians supposed to be humble and not care about money? Maybe wanting abundance means I'm materialistic.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: Religious poverty gospel twisting contentment into settling for lack, making God's abundant nature seem ungodly.
She's heard 'money is the root of all evil' misquoted and seen 'prosperity gospel' mocked, creating shame around wanting financial blessing. Poverty gets spiritualized as humble while abundance gets demonized as greedy.
Abraham was 'very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold'—extremely wealthy by any standard. God didn't rebuke his wealth; it was evidence of the blessing. Even when Abraham LIED twice, he left richer both times—blessing wasn't based on humility but covenant.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting financial blessing is greedy. IT IS WRITTEN that John PRAYED I would prosper in ALL things! God gives me power to get wealth to establish His covenant. The BARAK blessing made Abraham EXTREMELY wealthy—that's my inheritance through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 35:27 that God takes PLEASURE in my prosperity. My Father isn't stingy—He's the One who killed the fattened calf, threw parties, and gave the prodigal ring, robe, and sandals. Abundance glorifies His generosity!
Your Father doesn't want you barely surviving—He takes PLEASURE in your prosperity. He made Abraham extremely wealthy, Isaac envied by kings, and Jacob owner of massive flocks. He's not asking you to settle for crumbs when He's prepared a FEAST.
