"I should be content with what I have and not ask for more—that's greed."
How it sounds in your head: Paul said be content. Hebrews says be content with such things as you have. Wanting more is materialistic. Godly men don't focus on money. Just be grateful and stop wanting.
"Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, 'Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.'"
-- Psalm 35:27Religion: twists contentment into poverty vow, confusing greed with sonship.
The verses ARE there. Wanting more DOES feel carnal in church culture. You don't want to sound greedy or materialistic.
Asked for wisdom, not wealth. God was so PLEASED He said, 'Because you didn't ask for riches, I'm giving you riches ANYWAY—more than any king before or after.' Solomon got wisdom AND wealth, silver as common as stones. God VOLUNTEERED the wealth because it PLEASED Him to give it.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting provision is greed. IT IS WRITTEN that God takes PLEASURE in my prosperity. He's not reluctant—He's EAGER. Solomon didn't ask for wealth and God gave it ANYWAY because it pleased Him. The BARAK blessing means I am blessed in my storehouses, I lend to nations, I am above only and not beneath. IT IS WRITTEN He supplies according to HIS riches—infinite supply. I'm not greedy for asking—I'm a son receiving from a generous Father. Abundance flows NOW.
The Father didn't give the prodigal a lecture about contentment. He gave him the ROBE. The RING. The PARTY. The fattened calf. Abundance isn't something you twist His arm for—it's something He's EAGER to release. He takes pleasure in prospering you.
