"If I'm blessed financially, people will think I'm spoiled or prideful."
How it sounds in your head: Kids at school already make fun of people who have nice things. If I have new clothes or cool stuff, they'll call me spoiled or a show-off. I'll lose friends. People will be jealous. It's safer to stay invisible and not have much. Blessing makes me a target. I'd rather blend in than stand out.
"The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."
-- Proverbs 10:22Source: Fear of man and peer rejection makes him hide blessing to avoid criticism.
Pre-teen social dynamics are brutal—kids DO mock those who stand out, and fitting in feels like survival. He's watched peers get bullied for having nicer things or seeming 'too good.'
Joseph's brothers hated him for his dreams and blessing, threw him in a pit, sold him as a slave. But everywhere Joseph went, the blessing FOLLOWED—Potiphar saw the LORD was with Joseph and made him head of his house, prospered everything he touched despite jealousy.
I REFUSE the lie that I should hide blessing to avoid criticism. IT IS WRITTEN that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds NO SORROW. Joseph's brothers hated his blessing, but everywhere he went, FAVOR followed—even Potiphar SAW the Lord was with him. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:13 that I am the HEAD and not the tail, ABOVE and not beneath. The BARAK blessing made Abraham so wealthy that kings made covenants with him. I will not shrink back from what God provides because of fear of man. Proverbs 29:25 says fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is SAFE. I walk in blessing BOLDLY because it's from my Father.
Your Father isn't asking you to hide in the shadows like a shameful servant—He gave the prodigal the RING and ROBE publicly, threw a PARTY where everyone could see. He LOVES displaying His goodness through His kids, and He gives favor with the blessing.
