"I'm unworthy of inheritance because I rejected faith during my wealthy years."
How it sounds in your head: When I had money, I ignored God. Now that I'm desperate, I'm running back. That makes me a hypocrite using God as a lottery ticket. Why would He bless someone who only showed up when the bank account emptied?
"Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"
-- Romans 2:4Enemy using shame over past independence to block present access to Father's love.
You literally did ignore God during prosperous years and only pursued Him when things fell apart. The timing looks opportunistic. Religious people would call you a fair-weather believer using God for money.
He literally came back because he was STARVING—'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!' Pure survival motive. The father didn't lecture him about motives; he RAN and RESTORED him fully.
I REFUSE the lie that past independence disqualifies present access. IT IS WRITTEN: The goodness of God leads me to repentance—He USES provision to draw me, and that's His design, not my manipulation. The prodigal came back for FOOD and got a PARTY. My Father isn't offended by my need; He's running to meet it. IT IS WRITTEN: There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I receive restoration as a son, not as a hired servant earning scraps.
Your Father has been watching the horizon the entire time you were gone, and the moment you turn toward home—even if hunger is your only motive—He's RUNNING with full restoration. The ring, robe, and fattened calf aren't rewards for pure motives; they're expressions of His unchanging nature.
