"My family's wealth destroyed us spiritually so I'm better off poor."

How it sounds in your head: I watched money tear my family apart—greed, fighting over wills, relationships ruined over inheritance. Maybe God kept me poor to keep me humble. Maybe prosperity really is dangerous and poverty is somehow more spiritual.

1 Timothy 6:17

"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."

-- 1 Timothy 6:17
Enemy whispers: 'Wealth destroyed your family—poverty is more spiritual.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Timothy 6:17—God 'gives us RICHLY ALL THINGS to ENJOY.' Not 'gives the super-spiritual barely enough to survive.' RICHLY. All things. To ENJOY. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:11—'The Lord will grant you ABUNDANT prosperity.' Money didn't destroy your family—GREED did. The blessing isn't the problem; the LOVE of money is. Abraham was VERY RICH and walked with God. Job was richest man in the East and was called BLAMELESS.
Quick Truth: LIE: Wealth destroyed family, poverty is safer. TRUTH: God gives RICHLY all things to enjoy. 1 Tim 6:17

Enemy using real family tragedy to make you renounce the BARAK blessing and embrace poverty as holiness—directly contradicting Deuteronomy 28:1-14.

Why this feels true:

You witnessed actual family destruction around money—the fights were real, the broken relationships are real, and poverty HAS kept you out of those battles. It SEEMS like evidence that lack is safer.

Job 1:1-3, 42:12
Job

Richest man in the East, owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 oxen, 500 donkeys, very large household—and God called him BLAMELESS and UPRIGHT. Lost it ALL, then God restored DOUBLE—14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 1,000 donkeys—and he died old and FULL OF DAYS, blessed in WEALTH, not despite it.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that poverty is more spiritual than prosperity. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives us RICHLY all things to ENJOY—not sparingly, not begrudgingly, but RICHLY. The BARAK blessing of Abraham includes ABUNDANT prosperity, and I am Abraham's seed by covenant. My family's misuse of money doesn't cancel God's promise of provision. IT IS WRITTEN in 3 John 1:2—'I pray that you may PROSPER in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.' Prosperity isn't the enemy; the LOVE of money is. I receive wealth with a KINGDOM heart, blessed to BE a blessing.

But God actually:

While you're renouncing blessing to avoid your family's mistakes, Father is saying 'Daughter, their GREED was the problem, not My GENEROSITY.' He's not asking you to choose poverty to prove spirituality—He's offering you RICHLY all things to enjoy, whispering 'I trust you with this because you're Mine, and I've given you a Kingdom heart that loves PEOPLE and uses MONEY, not the reverse.'
