"I'm too young to really know what I believe; I'm just copying my parents' faith."
How it sounds in your head: Kids at school say I only believe because my parents do. If I was born in a Muslim country I'd be Muslim. My faith isn't real because I didn't choose it myself yet.
"And He said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.'"
-- Matthew 18:3Enemy invalidating young faith by suggesting it's not authentic until independently chosen, when God honors childhood faith.
He recognizes he does believe what his parents taught him. He wonders if his faith would be different if born elsewhere, making it seem culturally conditioned not true.
Samuel was just a BOY when God spoke to him directly and gave him prophetic words that came true. God didn't wait until Samuel was older to use him—He spoke to the CHILD because children can hear God clearly!
I REFUSE the lie that my age makes my faith invalid! IT IS WRITTEN that unless I become like a little child I can't enter the kingdom—Jesus made CHILDREN the model! My young faith isn't copying; it's receiving truth while my heart is still soft! IT IS WRITTEN that from childhood Timothy knew the Scriptures and it made him wise for salvation. Samuel was just a BOY when God spoke directly to him! I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing doesn't wait until I'm older. The Father honors my young faith more than adult cynicism!
The Father isn't waiting for you to grow up before He takes your faith seriously—He's delighted that you believe now while your heart is tender. Childlike faith is exactly what He's looking for.
