"Smart, educated people don't believe this; faith is for simpler minds."
How it sounds in your head: You've got a degree now. You've read philosophy, science, history. The people you respect intellectually aren't believers. Faith feels like regression, like turning your brain off. Maybe it was fine when you were naive, but not anymore.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27World system equating intellect with unbelief; enemy using pride to isolate from the Gospel.
Your professors, podcasts, and thought leaders mock Christianity as anti-intellectual, and you don't want to be the guy who 'just believes' without evidence. Intelligence has become your identity, and faith feels like betraying it.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee, member of the Sanhedrin, 'the teacher of Israel'—elite education, top of the intellectual class. He came to Jesus at night, and Jesus told him he needed to be born again—Nicodemus' intelligence didn't exempt him, it led him TO Jesus, and later he publicly defended Him.
I REFUSE the lie that intelligence and faith oppose each other. IT IS WRITTEN that God chose the foolish things to shame the wise, and the Gospel's scandal is its POWER, not its weakness. Nicodemus was the scholar of scholars, and Jesus told him to be born again—intelligence led him TO the cross, not away from it. The fear of the Lord is the BEGINNING of wisdom, and every treasure of knowledge is hidden in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 1:16 that the Gospel is the POWER of God—not for the simple, but for EVERYONE who believes. I declare: my mind is a gift that leads me deeper into Him, not away, and the BARAK blessing makes me the head and not the tail in EVERY arena, including intellect.
The Father didn't give you a mind to check at the door—He gave it to you so you could explore the infinite depths of who He is. Your intellect isn't the enemy of faith; it's the tool He's sharpening to cut through the lies and see His glory with clarity.
