"I'm too young to hear God's voice clearly. That's for adults or really spiritual people."
How it sounds in your head: When adults talk about hearing God, it sounds mystical and advanced. You probably just imagine things. Real prophets and spiritual people hear God, but you're just a kid trying to figure out faith. Maybe when you're older and know the Bible better.
"Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, 'Samuel! Samuel!' And Samuel answered, 'Speak, for Your servant hears.'"
-- 1 Samuel 3:10Religion - making relationship with God academic instead of relational. Creating expert classes that exclude children from intimacy with God.
Adults use phrases like 'spiritual discernment' and 'God spoke to me' that sound advanced. You're not sure if that thought was God or just your imagination. You don't have the experience to know the difference yet.
Heard God's voice as a young boy when the high priest couldn't hear Him. God spoke to the child first, and everything Samuel said came to pass because the Lord was with him.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too young to hear God's voice. IT IS WRITTEN that God spoke to Samuel as a CHILD when the experienced priest heard nothing. I am a sheep of His pasture and His sheep HEAR His voice - that's a present tense reality, not a future goal. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said 'My sheep hear My voice' with no age requirement attached. I am a branch connected directly to the Vine, and sap doesn't travel to old branches first. The BARAK blessing of Abraham includes divine guidance and wisdom, and it's mine by covenant RIGHT NOW. The Holy Spirit lives IN me, and He speaks to children as clearly as He speaks to adults because intimacy with God isn't earned through years of experience.
The Father is whispering your name like He whispered 'Samuel, Samuel' in the night. He's not waiting for you to understand theology. He's speaking NOW because you're His child and He loves talking to His children more than anyone else.
