"I'm too worried about my health to sleep—what if I don't wake up?"
How it sounds in your head: Your buddy had a heart attack in his sleep at sixty-two. You felt that chest pain last week. Every twinge makes you wonder if this is the night. You lie there monitoring your heartbeat, afraid to relax completely.
"I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me."
-- Psalm 3:5Enemy assignment of fear of death combined with cultural terror of aging and medical system's constant warnings creating hypervigilance.
Friends ARE dying. Your body IS different. The statistics say heart disease, cancer, stroke—all more likely now. The fear feels like wisdom, like being prepared.
Hezekiah was sick to the point of death—Isaiah said 'set your house in order, you're dying.' Hezekiah prayed, and before Isaiah left the courtyard, God said 'I'm adding FIFTEEN YEARS to your life.' INSTANT reversal of a death sentence.
I REFUSE the lie that I won't wake up. IT IS WRITTEN that I lay down and sleep, and I AWAKE because the Lord sustains me. My times are in HIS hands, not in the statistics of aging. With long life He satisfies me and shows me His salvation—that's Psalm 91:16, a PROMISE. I will not die but LIVE and declare the works of the Lord. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 118:17. My heart beats in rhythm with His purpose; every breath is numbered by Him, not by chance. I am the blessed of Abraham, redeemed from premature death, sleeping in covenant safety tonight.
Father doesn't see you as a ticking time bomb managing decline—He sees you as His son with a DESTINY still unfolding. He's not wringing His hands over your health; He's already spoken LENGTH OF DAYS over you and isn't taking it back because of a chart.
