"I'm too weird or different to connect with anyone on a real level."
How it sounds in your head: My interests are strange, my sense of humor is off, the things I care about aren't cool. Normal kids don't think like me. I've learned to just keep my weirdness hidden because anytime I show it, people look at me like I'm from another planet.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14Enemy accusation exploiting normal pre-teen individuation, twisting uniqueness into defect and difference into disqualification.
He's becoming aware of his unique wiring—interests, humor, perspectives—and instead of celebrating it, he's comparing it to peers and feeling defective. Social media amplifies 'normal' and makes his differences feel like flaws.
John wore camel hair, ate locusts and wild honey, and lived in the wilderness—absolutely NOT normal by anyone's standards. Yet 'Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him'—his weirdness became his platform, and people flocked TO his uniqueness, not away from it.
I REFUSE the lie that my differences disqualify me from connection. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—my uniqueness is intentional, not accidental. The Father didn't make a mistake when He wired me this way; He made a MARVEL. I carry the BARAK blessing that made Abraham distinct from every nation around him—my difference is covenant-designed to attract the right people. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 Corinthians 12:18, 'God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased'—my wiring pleases the Father, and what He celebrates, I celebrate. My weirdness is my worship, my uniqueness is my strength.
The Father sees the parts you think are too strange and He's not cringing—He's celebrating because He MADE you that way on purpose. Like the prodigal whose father didn't demand conformity, the Father loves your full, unedited, wonderfully weird self exactly as you are.
