"I'm too sensitive. I cry too easily and feel too much."
How it sounds in your head: Other girls seem tough. They laugh off mean comments. I cry over everything—movies, books, when someone's left out, when I'm corrected. People probably think I'm a baby. I wish I could just toughen up.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35Enemy twisting her empathy and emotional intelligence into shame, making her see sensitivity as weakness rather than the gift of compassion.
Culture rewards toughness and mocks tears, especially for girls entering the 'too cool to care' preteen years. She's genuinely more affected by emotions—others' and her own—and it feels isolating and embarrassing.
Jeremiah wept so much he's called 'the weeping prophet.' He cried over people's sin and suffering. God didn't tell him to toughen up—He CHOSE him BECAUSE of his tender heart. Sensitivity was the qualification, not the disqualification.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too sensitive. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus wept—sensitivity is Christlikeness, not weakness. I am designed to weep with those who weep, to feel deeply, to carry compassion. IT IS WRITTEN that God collects my tears in a bottle—He treasures what the world mocks. I am not too much. I am LIKE JESUS. The BARAK blessing doesn't require emotional toughness. It flows through tenderhearted warriors. God chose Jeremiah BECAUSE of his tears. My sensitivity is my strength.
The Father isn't frustrated by your tears. He's collecting them in a bottle, treasuring every one. He's running toward you with acceptance, celebrating your tender heart, not demanding you toughen up. Jesus wept publicly. You're in good company.
