"I'm not spiritually mature enough to hear God's voice clearly at the end."
How it sounds in your head: You should be having profound spiritual encounters. Others describe hearing God clearly. You just feel confused, tired, and ordinary. Maybe if you'd grown more spiritually over the decades, you'd have clarity now. You're at life's end and still spiritually immature. You missed your chance to become the man of God you should have been.
"But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:30Religious measuring of spiritual maturity creating shame over ordinary faith experience.
He's not having dramatic visions or angelic encounters. He feels ordinary, tired, and humanly afraid. Comparing himself to testimonies of 'spiritual giants,' his end-of-life experience feels disappointingly unspiritual, like evidence of spiritual failure.
Angel appears and calls Gideon 'mighty man of valor' while he's HIDING in a wine press, terrified, arguing with God, asking for multiple signs because of doubt. God didn't wait for him to mature - He called him mighty WHILE he was weak, used him WHILE he doubted, and delivered Israel through his inadequacy.
I REFUSE the lie that I need spiritual maturity to hear God. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ BECAME my wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification - past tense, finished, mine. I don't achieve maturity - I RECEIVE CHRIST, who IS my maturity. IT IS WRITTEN that I am COMPLETE in Him - not becoming complete, but COMPLETE right now. Gideon was called 'mighty warrior' while HIDING in fear, and God used him anyway. The Father hears my prayers through JESUS'S BLOOD, not through my spiritual resume. The BARAK blessing didn't require Abraham to be spiritually mature - it required him to be IN COVENANT. I'm in the BETTER covenant. My spiritual state doesn't determine God's voice - His NATURE does.
The Father is running toward you not grading your spiritual maturity but celebrating that you're His son. He's saying, 'You don't need to be spiritually impressive to hear Me - you need to be MINE, and you are. I speak to My children, not to My high performers.'
