"I'm too much trouble. My needs are a burden everyone tolerates but doesn't want."
How it sounds in your head: You need help more often now. Rides to appointments, assistance with things you used to do easily, emotional support through losses. You see the slight hesitation before people say yes, the relief when someone else volunteers. You're starting to minimize your needs, pretend you're fine, disappear quietly so you won't be a burden.
"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation!"
-- Psalm 68:19Source: Religious teaching that needing help equals weakness, combined with enemy's lie that you must earn love through self-sufficiency.
People are busy, and you're one more demand on their time. You've seen how society treats elderly people who need care—warehoused, forgotten, endured. Every time you ask for help, you feel like you're using up goodwill you can't repay.
He was paralyzed, completely dependent, had to be carried by four friends who literally tore apart someone's roof to get him to Jesus. Jesus didn't rebuke the inconvenience or the property damage—He INSTANTLY forgave his sins and healed him completely, celebrating the faith that brought such a needy man to Him.
I REFUSE the lie that my needs make me a burden. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord DAILY loads me with benefits—He's not reluctant, He's EAGER. The paralyzed man was carried by four people who destroyed a roof, and Jesus CELEBRATED the faith that brought him. IT IS WRITTEN that I come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. I am wrapped in the BARAK blessing where the Lord COMMANDS blessing on my storehouses. My needs don't diminish His love—they're opportunities for Him to show His ABUNDANCE.
The Father isn't keeping score of how much you need—He's rejoicing that you're finally letting Him be the Father He's always wanted to be. He's not tolerating your needs; He's RUNNING to meet them before you even ask.
