"I'm too emotional now and cry too easily, making people uncomfortable."
How it sounds in your head: I never used to be like this. Now I tear up at commercials, at church, remembering friends who've died. Men aren't supposed to cry this much. People don't know what to do with me when I get emotional.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35Toxic masculinity lie that emotions equal weakness, attacking the image of God who 'bottles our tears' and Jesus who wept.
Your tear ducts genuinely do change with age, emotions ARE closer to the surface, and you were raised in a generation that equated male tears with failure. You feel the discomfort in the room and assume you're the problem.
King Josiah wept and tore his clothes when he heard God's Word, and God said 'Because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God... and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you.' His TEARS and emotional response unlocked national revival and delayed judgment on an entire generation.
I REFUSE the lie that my emotions make me too much or that tears equal weakness. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus wept, and if the Son of God could cry publicly, so can I without shame. My tears are NOT weakness—they're evidence of a TENDER heart that the Father treasures and collects in His bottle. The BARAK blessing over my life includes freedom to feel deeply without apology. IT IS WRITTEN that the LORD is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit. My increased emotion in these years is a GIFT, making me more effective in prayer, more compassionate in relationships, more like Jesus. I am not too much. I am FULLY ALIVE.
The Father is running toward you with JOY over your tender heart, not embarrassment, and He's about to use your willingness to weep to unlock healing in another man who's been emotionally dead for decades. Your tears are CONTAGIOUS in the spirit realm—they give other men permission to feel again.
