"I'm too emotional and needy to be truly loved."
How it sounds in your head: I cry too easily. I need too much attention and reassurance. People tell me I'm 'too sensitive' or 'too much,' and I can feel them pulling away when I express what I need.
"You number my wanderings; put my tears in Your bottle; are they not in Your book?"
-- Psalm 56:8Religious and cultural dismissal of emotional needs, especially in females, twisted by enemy.
Adults have dismissed her emotions as 'hormones' or 'drama.' She's been told to calm down, stop crying, or not be so sensitive, making her feel broken for having normal feelings.
Hannah wept so bitterly in prayer that the priest accused her of being drunk. She poured out her soul in anguish, and God didn't rebuke her emotions—He HEARD her, REMEMBERED her, and gave her Samuel IMMEDIATELY.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too emotional to be loved! IT IS WRITTEN that God puts my tears in His bottle and records them in His book—He treasures what others dismiss. Jesus wept at Lazarus' tomb; emotion is not weakness but DIVINE design. IT IS WRITTEN that the Holy Spirit intercedes for me with groanings too deep for words—God HONORS emotion. I am not 'too much' for the One who is ENOUGH. The BARAK blessing covers my emotional needs as surely as it covered provision. I am FULLY loved, feelings and ALL!
The Father doesn't roll His eyes at your tears or sigh when you need reassurance. He's bottling every tear like precious perfume and running toward you with arms wide open every single time.
