"I'm too complicated and messy for people to want to deal with"
How it sounds in your head: I have too much history, too many layers, too much baggage. People want simple, and I'm anything but.
"How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You."
-- Psalm 139:17-18Enemy using past pain and complexity to convince you that depth equals burden.
You've lived long enough to accumulate real complexity—divorce, prodigal kids, health issues, financial setbacks. You see people gravitate toward easier friendships and assume your story is too much work.
A woman with five failed marriages and currently living with a man she wasn't married to—the epitome of complicated and messy. Jesus didn't avoid her complexity; He sought her out specifically at the well, engaged her entire story, and she became the first evangelist to her city, bringing multitudes to Jesus.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too complicated. IT IS WRITTEN that God's thoughts toward me outnumber the sand on every shore—my complexity doesn't exhaust Him, it captivates Him. I am not too messy—I am deeply KNOWN. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus specifically sought the woman with five failed marriages and made her the FIRST EVANGELIST to an entire city. My layers and history are the BARAK blessing of depth that reaches others who've also lived, not a liability to hide.
The Father is running toward you saying, 'I don't want the edited version—I want every complicated, layered piece of your story.' He's meeting you at the well like Jesus met the Samaritan woman—eager to engage ALL of it and then send you out as His messenger.
