"I'm the friend nobody texts first—I'm always reaching out but nobody reaches back."
How it sounds in your head: You scroll through your messages and you're ALWAYS the one initiating. You stop texting first just to see who would reach out and days go by with silence. You wonder if you even have real friends or if you're just convenient when you're around.
"The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Enemy wants you believing you're a burden so you'll isolate yourself and miss the connections God has for you—if he can make you stop reaching out, he can cut you off from your destiny relationships.
You ARE doing all the relational work and not getting reciprocity. Your friends ARE taking you for granted, and the one-sided effort is exhausting and genuinely painful when you see them investing in other friendships but not yours.
Ruth was a foreign widow, poverty-stricken outsider gleaning scraps in a field, invisible and alone. Boaz NOTICED her immediately, told his workers to leave extra grain FOR HER ON PURPOSE, protected her, provided for her, and ultimately married her—from invisible outsider to beloved wife and grandmother of David in ONE HARVEST SEASON.
I REFUSE the lie that I am an afterthought or that nobody thinks about me first. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord REJOICES over me with gladness and singing. IT IS WRITTEN that His thoughts toward me outnumber the grains of sand. I am not forgotten—I am CELEBRATED. I am not an afterthought—I am the thought that makes God SING. The BARAK blessing pursued Abraham and made covenant with him FIRST, and that same pursuing love is chasing ME down with goodness and mercy all the days of my life.
The Father isn't waiting for you to reach out first—He's been reaching for you since before time began, running toward you with the robe and ring, throwing a party over you RIGHT NOW. He didn't wait for the prodigal to clean up or rehearse the right words—He RAN while the son was still far off, still smelling like pigs, because the Father ALWAYS moves first toward His children.
