"My health problems make me a burden—people help me out of duty, not desire."
How it sounds in your head: I see the burden in their eyes when I need help with things I used to do myself. They're kind, but it's obligation. I'm becoming the needy old man nobody wants to deal with.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Shame from physical decline combined with independence-worship attacking need for community.
Needs rides to appointments, struggles with stairs, requires help with tasks that were once effortless. Sees frustration flash across faces when he asks for assistance, feels diminished by dependence.
Crippled in both feet, completely dependent, expecting death when summoned by the king. Instead, King David INSTANTLY restored him to the royal table permanently—not out of duty but covenant love, proving physical limitation doesn't diminish covenant position.
I REFUSE the lie that my health limitations make me a burden. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made PERFECT in my weakness—my dependence creates space for His power. The world worships independence, but the Kingdom celebrates interdependence. My need isn't shame; it's opportunity for others to show Christ's love and for me to receive His grace. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am Abraham's seed, covered by the BARAK—blessed in body, soul, and spirit. My value isn't in physical strength but in covenant position. I am LOVED, not tolerated.
The Father isn't frustrated by your limitations—He's running toward you with healing in His wings and grace sufficient for every moment. Your weakness doesn't diminish His delight; it magnifies His faithfulness to carry you when you can't carry yourself.
