"I'm running out of time to see my child come home before I die."
How it sounds in your head: You're 85. The actuarial tables are clear. You've maybe got 5 years, maybe less. They're still in full rebellion—no signs of softening. You do the math: even if they turn around, you might not live to see it. You'll die with this wound open, this prayer unanswered, this grief unresolved.
"But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."
-- 2 Peter 3:8Time scarcity lie from enemy exploiting age-related mortality awareness to create urgency and hopelessness.
You've literally buried most of your friends. You know statistically how this plays out. The gap between their current trajectory and repentance seems wider than the time you have left, and watching parents die before seeing prodigals return is common enough to feel like pattern.
The thief had HOURS left to live—crucified, dying, no time for process or reformation. He'd lived an entire life of crime. One sentence of faith: 'Lord, remember me.' Jesus' response: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Complete transformation and eternal security in minutes, not years.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm running out of time to see my child's return. IT IS WRITTEN that with God, one day is as a thousand years—He can do in moments what I think requires decades. The thief on the cross was transformed in his final hours; my prodigal can encounter Jesus today. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus gives LIFE and gives it ABUNDANTLY—I am still breathing, which means I'm still in the story God is writing. I declare my days are in His hands, my child's return is in His hands, and whether I see it with physical eyes or spiritual eyes in eternity, the Father's promise over my seed is YES and AMEN. The BARAK blessing outlasts my natural lifespan.
The Father who gave you decades to pray is the same Father who can answer in a day—He's not watching your life clock with concern, He's orchestrating a reunion in HIS perfect timing. While you're counting years, He's arranging the moment when your prodigal catches the scent of home, and whether you see it on earth or celebrate it in heaven, you WILL see your child again.
