"I'm not holy enough to take authority over darkness."
How it sounds in your head: You know what you looked at last week. You know the thoughts you had yesterday. Holy people do spiritual warfare—you're still struggling with basic temptation. You need to clean up your act before you can command anything.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:21Source: Religion taught that authority flows from personal holiness instead of Jesus' finished work and your position in Him.
You feel the weight of recent failures. You compare yourself to people who seem to have it together. It feels hypocritical to command demons when you just sinned an hour ago.
A woman known throughout the city as a sinner crashed a Pharisee's dinner, wept on Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. Jesus didn't say 'Clean up first.' He said 'Your sins are forgiven...your faith has saved you. Go in peace.' Instant restoration before behavior change.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to be holier to carry authority. IT IS WRITTEN that I BECAME the righteousness of God in Christ—not through my behavior but through His blood. My authority is not based on my track record but on Jesus' finished work. I am not waiting to be holy enough; I AM HOLY because He is holy and I am IN Him. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 that there is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus. I am Abraham's seed, blessed with the BARAK that covered liars and deceivers, and I stand in the holiness Jesus purchased for me.
The Father isn't waiting for seven clean days before He lets you use authority. He's saying, 'You stumbled? So what. You're still My son. You're still righteous. The enemy is still under your feet. Now get up and enforce the victory I gave you.' He's running toward you, not away.
