"I'm bitter and angry at my parents and that bitterness will poison my last days."
How it sounds in your head: I can feel the rage still boiling when I think about what they did. I'm 90 years old and still angry. This bitterness is eating me alive and I'm going to die bitter. The poison is winning and I don't have time to detox before I see God.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
-- Ezekiel 36:26Enemy magnifying your emotion as identity and convincing you that feelings have timeline power over covenant reality.
The anger is real, present, physical. You feel it in your chest when memories surface and it seems impossible that God can work around something this volcanic inside you.
Furiously angry at God, bitter about mercy being shown to Nineveh, literally wished he was dead in his rage. God didn't reject him or demand emotional transformation first—He gently taught him while Jonah was STILL angry, showing that relationship continues even in bitterness.
I REFUSE the lie that my bitterness disqualifies me or that I must fix my own heart before God moves. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me a NEW HEART and puts a new spirit within me—this is HIS work, not mine. I am a branch connected to the vine and fruit comes from abiding, not striving. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Jonah was enraged at God and God still spoke tenderly to him. The BARAK blessing doesn't wait for my emotional perfection—it flows by COVENANT. I receive a new heart RIGHT NOW, supernaturally, like Naaman's instant healing.
The prodigal reeked of pig farm and prostitutes and the Father kissed him anyway—your bitterness doesn't make you un-embraceable. God is doing heart surgery while you're still on the table, conscious, angry—He doesn't need your cooperation to complete His work.
