"I'm an addict—that's who I am and will always be."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone at school knows what I did. My parents watch me differently now. Even when I'm good for weeks, they still call me 'our boy who struggles.' Like that's my name forever.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Enemy strategy to lock identity into past failures, keeping deliverance always future, never present.
Recovery programs teach 'once an addict, always an addict' and make you introduce yourself by your worst moment. When authority figures define you by your struggle, it feels like scientific fact.
Man so controlled by demons he lived naked in tombs, cutting himself with stones, too strong for chains—everyone called him 'the crazy man.' One encounter with Jesus and he was instantly 'clothed and in his right mind,' sitting calmly, sent home as a missionary to ten cities with a new identity.
I REFUSE the lie that my past defines my present. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a new creation—old things HAVE passed away, not 'are passing.' My identity is not 'recovering addict' but BELOVED SON of the Most High God. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives IN me, and IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:11 that He gives LIFE to my mortal body. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am BARAK-blessed—protected and empowered by covenant, not behavior. Every cell in my body knows its true Master. I walk in SUPERNATURAL FREEDOM because Jesus already paid for my complete deliverance. The Father runs toward me with the robe of righteousness, not a name tag of shame.
The Father doesn't see you as 'the addict trying to stay clean'—He sees you as His boy who looks exactly like Jesus. While you're still worried about your old label, He's already thrown the party, put the ring on your finger, and declared 'THIS IS MY SON' over you.
