"My addiction proves I'm weak. Strong women don't struggle like I did; I'm fundamentally flawed."
How it sounds in your head: You see women who seem to have it together—who never fell into addiction, never lost control. You feel like you're missing some core strength, some inner fortitude they have and you don't. Your addiction feels like proof you're defective at your foundation.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Source: Comparison culture mixed with self-righteeous religion—makes wholeness about personal strength instead of DIVINE SUFFICIENCY, turning grace into a consolation prize for the weak.
You DID lose control. You DID make destructive choices. Other women didn't. That feels like measurable proof they're stronger and you're broken.
God called him a 'mighty warrior' while he was hiding in a winepress, terrified, from the weakest tribe of the weakest clan. Gideon argued 'I'm the LEAST.' God said 'I'll be WITH you.' Gideon's weakness became the BACKDROP for God's strength—defeated an army with 300 men and torches. Weakness was the POINT.
I REFUSE the lie that my struggle proves I'm weak. IT IS WRITTEN: God's strength is made PERFECT in weakness. My addiction didn't reveal a fatal flaw; it revealed my HUMANITY and my NEED for a Savior. IT IS WRITTEN: God chose the WEAK to shame the strong. I'm not disqualified by my struggle—I'm POSITIONED for a demonstration of grace. Strong women don't avoid struggle; SURRENDERED women invite God's power into their struggle. I am not fundamentally flawed. I am FUNDAMENTALLY DEPENDENT, and that makes me the perfect candidate for GOD to show off. My weakness is His STAGE.
The Father doesn't wish you were stronger—He's THRILLED to be strong FOR you. Paul had a thorn and God said 'My grace is SUFFICIENT.' Gideon was hiding and God called him MIGHTY. Your weakness doesn't disappoint God. It INVITES Him to display power that makes angels gasp.
