"I'm a burden to my family and friends"
How it sounds in your head: You see your mom carry you up stairs. You watch your dad modify the house. You need help with things other kids do alone. Deep down you wonder if your family's life would be easier without you, if your friends only include you because they feel bad for you.
"Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."
-- Isaiah 46:4Enemy weaponizing sacrificial love to create false guilt and shame
You witness the extra time, money, and energy your disability requires. You've heard stressed conversations about medical bills and accessibility. You feel the weight of need.
Four friends carried him on a mat, tore apart a roof, lowered him down—massive effort. Jesus didn't say 'you're a burden.' He said 'your sins are forgiven' and 'rise, take up your bed and walk.' IMMEDIATELY he stood, picked up his mat, and walked out. The burden became the TESTIMONY.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden. IT IS WRITTEN that God Himself carries me—I am His treasure, not His weight. My need doesn't deplete Him or those who love me. I am LOVED, not tolerated. The Father made me and delights to bear me. IT IS WRITTEN in Zephaniah 3:17 that He rejoices over me with singing. I am not too much—I am exactly enough. I receive the BARAK blessing—the blessing that turned water to wine, multiplied oil, and provided exactly what's needed INSTANTLY. My family is blessed because I'm IN it, not burdened because they have me.
Your Father doesn't keep score of what you need. He's not waiting for you to need less before He loves you more. He ran to the prodigal who had NOTHING to offer—just need. And He threw a PARTY. Your need is His invitation to display His abundance.
