"I'm too old and broken for God to use me now, my useful years are behind me"
How it sounds in your head: I used to teach Sunday school, lead women's Bible studies, serve actively. Now I can barely get to church. I have wisdom, experience, so much I could share—but who wants to listen to someone in a care facility? God used me when I was young and capable. Now I'm just waiting to die.
"They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:14World's youth-worship and productivity obsession that equates usefulness with physical capacity and position
She sees ministries led by energetic younger women while she struggles to stay awake through sermons. Society venerates youth and dismisses the elderly as irrelevant, making her lifetime of wisdom feel worthless.
84 years old, widowed for decades, living in the temple praying and fasting constantly—and God chose HER to be among the first to proclaim the Messiah to all Jerusalem. Her greatest ministry moment came in what the world would call her most irrelevant, dependent season, proving God's assignments don't retire at 65.
I REFUSE the lie that my age disqualifies me from bearing fruit or being used by God. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall STILL bear fruit in old age, that I shall be fresh and flourishing—not was, not used to, but SHALL, present and future tense. My Father doesn't measure usefulness by physical capacity or platform size. IT IS WRITTEN that the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM rests on me—the same blessing that made Abraham the father of nations at 100 years old, that gave Sarah a baby at 90. Like Anna at 84 becoming the first evangelist, my greatest ministry may be NOW—in prayers that move mountains, in wisdom that transforms hearts, in a life that testifies God's faithfulness across decades. I am NOT done. I am NOT irrelevant. I am STILL bearing fruit because I'm connected to the Vine, and branches don't retire.
Your Father isn't looking at your age as countdown to irrelevance—He's positioned you exactly where He wants you, with decades of testimony, proven character, and prayers refined by time. He gave Moses his greatest assignment at 80, made Abraham a father at 100, and chose Anna at 84 to announce the Messiah—because He loves using those the world dismisses to display that His power needs no youth, only yielded hearts.
