"I'm a burden to everyone who helps me - they're all tired of me"
How it sounds in your head: I can see it in Mom's eyes. My sponsor sighs before answering my calls. My best friend is supportive but... exhausted. They've given so much and I just keep needing MORE. I'm the crisis they're all managing. They'd be better off if I just handled this alone.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
-- Matthew 11:28Source: Shame telling you need is weakness instead of design, making you carry burden of others' compassion fatigue
People ARE tired - you can feel it. They love you but they're human and you've needed A LOT. The texts take longer to answer. The patience is thinner. Evidence feels undeniable.
Crippled in both feet, grandson of David's enemy Saul, hiding in obscurity assuming he's forgotten/burden. David SOUGHT HIM OUT, brought him to the palace, and he ate at the king's table FOR LIFE 'like one of the king's sons' - honored burden, not tolerated one.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden people are tired of. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus INVITES me to bring my heavy load to Him - He gives REST, not exhaustion. IT IS WRITTEN that God DAILY loads me with BENEFITS - I don't drain Him. Like Mephibosheth who ate at the king's table for LIFE, I am HONORED, not tolerated. Under the BARAK blessing, I am BLESSED and a BLESSING. The Father RUNS toward me, never away. I am NOT TOO MUCH. I am EXACTLY RIGHT, deeply LOVED, cherished DAUGHTER. My need doesn't exhaust God's supply.
Father didn't tolerate the prodigal's return like an exhausted parent managing a crisis. He RAN, He CELEBRATED, He threw a PARTY. Your neediness doesn't exhaust Him. It gives Him chances to display His abundance. You're not a burden. You're His beloved daughter He gets to LAVISH with goodness.
