"I'm a burden to everyone now, not a blessing. I take more than I give."
How it sounds in your head: Your kids have their own lives and you're just one more thing they have to manage. Doctor's appointments, medications, maybe they're discussing assisted living or who will take care of you. You used to provide for them; now you need them to provide for you. You're the problem they're trying to solve.
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:12-14Enemy redefining value by productivity, hiding the truth that your PRESENCE carries the BARAK blessing.
You require help with things you used to handle. You're aware of the time, money, and energy your needs consume from others. The balance sheet shows you're taking more than you're contributing.
Jacob was old, dependent on his son Joseph for provision, and living in Egypt because of famine. Yet when he met Pharaoh—the most powerful man in the world—Jacob BLESSED him. A dependent old man blessed a king, and the blessing had POWER. Jacob knew the BARAK flowed through him regardless of his physical state.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden! IT IS WRITTEN: The righteous bear FRUIT in old age and remain FLOURISHING! I am not defined by what I need—I'm defined by what I CARRY. The BARAK blessing of Abraham flows through me to everyone I encounter. My prayers shift kingdoms. My words release blessing. My presence brings God into the room. IT IS WRITTEN: I am BLESSED to be a BLESSING! I don't need productivity to have value—I have value because I am a SON of the Most High God. I am a CARRIER of His presence, a DISPENSER of His favor. I bless everyone around me because I am IN CHRIST and He is the ultimate BLESSING!
The Father doesn't calculate your worth by what you contribute—He delights in you because you're His son. Like the prodigal who returned contributing NOTHING, the Father celebrated him, not for what he brought but for WHO HE WAS. You're celebrated, not evaluated.
