"I'm not strong enough to face death. I'm supposed to be the strong one, but I'm terrified."
How it sounds in your head: You've been the rock for everyone your whole life. Men don't show fear. But now you're shaking inside and you can't fix this. Death is coming and you can't fight it, control it, or be strong through it. You're weak when everyone needs you strong. This fear proves you never really had faith.
"Our God is the God of salvation; and to God the Lord belong escapes from death."
-- Psalm 68:20Masculine performance expectation combined with religious teaching that fear equals faithlessness.
He's spent 90+ years being the strong one, the fixer, the provider. Now facing the one enemy he cannot defeat, his lifetime identity of strength is crumbling and the terror feels like ultimate failure.
King Hezekiah was told by the prophet 'Set your house in order, for you shall die.' He turned his face to the wall and wept bitterly in terror. Before the prophet even left the courtyard, God sent him back: 'I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you and add fifteen years.' His fear didn't disqualify him - it moved God's heart.
I REFUSE the lie that my fear disqualifies me or proves weak faith. IT IS WRITTEN that to God the Lord belong escapes from death - not to my strength, but to HIS. I don't have to BE the strong one - I have to be HELD by the Strong One. Jesus Himself sweat blood facing death, so my fear is human, not failure. IT IS WRITTEN that when I am weak, THEN I am strong, because His strength is made perfect in my weakness. The BARAK blessing that protected Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through death now carries me. I am not crossing alone - the God of salvation is WITH me.
The Father is running toward you not demanding strength but offering to CARRY you through the valley. He's whispering, 'You've spent 90 years being strong for others - now let Me be strong FOR you. Your weakness is the doorway to My glory.'
