"I'll never be as spiritual or good as the other girls at youth group."
How it sounds in your head: They raise their hands in worship and it looks effortless. They know all the right Bible verses. They pray out loud without stumbling. You feel like a fraud trying to keep up with girls who seem naturally holy while you're faking it.
"And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."
-- Colossians 2:10Religious system that measures spirituality by external performance, making relationship a competition.
You compare your internal chaos to their external composure. They seem to have a connection to God that feels unreachable to you, like they have a secret you weren't given.
Gideon was hiding in a winepress, terrified, from the weakest clan, the least in his family. God called him 'mighty warrior' WHILE HE WAS HIDING. God didn't wait for Gideon to become brave; He called him what he WAS in God's eyes, and Gideon defeated armies.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm less spiritual than others. IT IS WRITTEN that I am COMPLETE in Christ—not becoming complete, but fully complete right now. My connection to God is not measured by how confidently I pray out loud or how high I raise my hands. IT IS WRITTEN that I have been given EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. I am not behind. I am not lacking. I am a branch connected to the Vine, and fruit comes from abiding, not striving. The Father delights in me exactly as I am, not as I perform.
The Father isn't comparing you to other worshipers; He's looking at you with the same pride He has for His Son because you're IN His Son. You don't have to earn spiritual credibility—you were given Christ's righteousness as a gift, making you just as 'spiritual' as anyone who's ever lived.
