"I'm a burden now—my family would be better off if I were gone."
How it sounds in your head: I see the exhaustion in their eyes. They have to help me with everything—bathing, dressing, eating. I'm draining their lives, their money, their energy. They'd have freedom if I just died.
"Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been upheld by Me from birth, who have been carried from the womb: Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."
-- Isaiah 46:3-4World: Measures human value by productivity and independence; dependence equals worthlessness.
She hears the sighs, sees the bills, feels the weight of constant care. Her children's lives revolve around her needs, and she can't give anything back anymore.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet, completely dependent, unable to contribute anything. King David brought him to the palace and said 'You shall eat at MY table ALWAYS'—not earning his keep, not waiting tables, just receiving. He was carried, served, and honored for the rest of his life simply because of covenant.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden better off gone. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 46:4 that even to my gray hairs, God will CARRY me—I'm not a burden to Him, I'm His beloved. My value isn't in what I produce; it's in WHOSE I am. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 2:10, 'I am His WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand.' Those works include THIS season, THIS moment. I am like Mephibosheth—brought to the King's table not because I earned it but because of COVENANT. My family's love is a REFLECTION of God's nature, not a drain on their resources. I am blessed, not a burden, under the BARAK of Abraham.
The Father isn't calculating the cost of your care—He's the God who fed two million Israelites for forty years with daily manna, who told David to bring the crippled Mephibosheth to eat at his table ALWAYS, who carried Israel from birth to gray hairs without complaint. While you fear being too much, He's declaring 'My grace is SUFFICIENT for you' (2 Corinthians 12:9), and He supplies that grace to your family too.
