"I'm running out of time; death is approaching and I haven't done enough for God."
How it sounds in your head: I wasted so many years. If I'd been more faithful, more obedient, more devoted, maybe I'd have more to show for my life. Now time is almost gone and my legacy feels small and inadequate.
"Then he said to Jesus, 'Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.' And Jesus said to him, 'Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.'"
-- Luke 23:42-43Religion measuring worth by accomplishments and ministry output, plus enemy accusation targeting identity as beloved daughter regardless of performance.
Looking back reveals genuine missed opportunities and failures, while looking ahead shows limited time to 'make up for it.' The gap between the life lived and the life imagined feels like permanent failure.
He had zero time for ministry, no chance to build a legacy, nothing to show God but a lifetime of crime. One moment of faith in his final breath bought him Paradise—instant, complete, unearned salvation with no time to prove anything.
I REFUSE the lie that I haven't done enough. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief on the cross entered Paradise with ZERO accomplishments—just connection to Jesus. My acceptance is NOT based on my ministry resume; it's based on WHOSE I am. I am NOT under condemnation; Romans 8:1 declares NO condemnation for those in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 2:8-9 that salvation is by GRACE through faith, not of works. I am under the BARAK blessing of unearned favor. I am COMPLETE in Christ NOW.
The Father sees you exactly like He saw the thief—worthy of Paradise not because of what you've done but because of what JESUS did. He's running toward you with the robe and ring while you're still cataloging failures, celebrating your presence, not scoring your performance.
