"I'll never know what it's like to be deeply known and chosen by someone."

How it sounds in your head: Everyone talks about being 'seen' by their spouse. Known at the deepest level. Chosen every day. You've never had that. No one ever looked at you and said, 'You. I choose you.' You'll die never knowing what that feels like.

Psalm 139:1-3

"O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways."

-- Psalm 139:1-3
Enemy whispers: You'll never be deeply known and chosen. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Psalm 139:1-3—'O LORD, You have searched me and KNOWN me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.' God knows you MORE intimately than any spouse ever could. IT IS WRITTEN in John 15:16, 'You did not choose Me, but I CHOSE you.' The Creator of the universe CHOSE you before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4 says He 'chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.' You have BEEN chosen. You ARE deeply known.
Quick Truth: LIE: Never known or chosen. TRUTH: God knows you completely (Ps 139:1-3) and chose you before the world began (Eph 1:4).

Enemy: Uses legitimate heart-longing for intimacy to obscure the reality that God knows and chooses perfectly.

Why this feels true:

You've watched couples finish each other's sentences. Inside jokes built over decades. Someone who knows your quirks and loves you anyway. You've never had a person who chose you exclusively, permanently, intimately. That experience is foreign to you.

Luke 10:38-42, John 12:1-8
Mary of Bethany

No mention of Mary ever marrying. But Jesus said she 'chose the good part'—sitting at His feet while others bustled. She knew Him so deeply she anointed Him for burial before anyone else understood. Jesus defended her twice against critics. She was SEEN, KNOWN, and CHOSEN by the One who matters most—and that was enough.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I'll never be deeply known and chosen. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord has searched me and KNOWN me—He knows my sitting down, my rising up, my every thought. I am MORE known by God than I could ever be by a human. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus CHOSE me—I didn't choose Him, He chose me. Before the foundation of the world, I was chosen, known, and loved. The BARAK blessing is mine—I am blessed and highly favored. I am not unknown. I am not unchosen. I am fully SEEN by the One whose opinion is the only one that matters.

But God actually:

The Father hasn't been watching you miss out on intimacy with sadness. He's been whispering your name every single morning, knowing the number of hairs on your head, collecting every tear, celebrating every victory, and choosing you over and over again—and He's preparing a face-to-face meeting where you'll finally comprehend just how KNOWN and CHOSEN you've always been.
