"I'll never be able to provide for a family like this. What woman wants a sick husband?"
How it sounds in your head: You can barely provide for yourself some months. How are you supposed to be the provider, the protector, the strong one when you can't predict your own body? No woman signs up for a husband who might not be able to work full-time, who has medical bills, who needs CARE instead of providing it. You're supposed to be the rock. You feel like the pebble.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Performance-based masculine identity warfare, magnified by cultural provider expectations and fear of being 'less than' as a man.
Provider identity is CORE to how you see yourself as a man. The illness directly threatens your ability to fulfill that role. Dating profiles don't say 'seeking chronically ill partner.' The practical concerns are REAL—insurance, medical costs, unpredictable income. It feels irresponsible to ask someone to sign up for this.
During a FAMINE when everyone else was starving, Isaac planted crops in faith and reaped a HUNDREDFOLD the same year—became so wealthy the Philistines envied him. Provision had NOTHING to do with circumstances and EVERYTHING to do with covenant blessing. BARAK blessing overrides economic disaster.
I REFUSE the lie that illness disqualifies me from provision or partnership. IT IS WRITTEN: My God supplies ALL my need according to HIS riches. I am blessed with the BARAK blessing of Abraham—blessed in the city and field, in famine and plenty, in HEALTH and in attack. Isaac prospered in FAMINE. Joseph provided for nations from PRISON. My provision source is COVENANT, not capability. IT IS WRITTEN: The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and He adds no sorrow. I am the HEAD and not the tail, ABOVE and not beneath, a LENDER and not a borrower—those are covenant promises that don't have a health clause. The right woman will see the FAVOR on my life, not the limitations on my body.
The Father isn't worried about your ability to provide. He's the One who PROVIDED a ram for Abraham, PROVIDED for widows with oil that multiplied, PROVIDED coin-in-fish-mouth tax money. While you're disqualifying yourself as husband material, He's preparing a Ruth who sees the BOAZ in you—the man of God under whose wings she wants to shelter, not because of your bank account but because of the BLESSING you carry.
