"If they really loved each other, they wouldn't need God to fix this—they'd just do it."
How it sounds in your head: Real love shouldn't need supernatural intervention. If they were meant to be together, it would be easier. All the Christian couples at church make it look natural. Maybe my parents just aren't compatible and forcing it with God's help is just delaying the inevitable. Love shouldn't be this hard.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5World's romance lie that true love is effortless, combined with religious pride that says needing God means failure.
You see other couples who seem happy without all this drama. Movies and social media show love as magic and easy. Your parents' struggle feels like evidence they married the wrong person, and needing divine intervention seems like admission of defeat.
Peter walked on water ONLY while focused on Jesus—the moment he relied on himself and looked at circumstances, he IMMEDIATELY sank. Jesus didn't say, 'You failed'; He INSTANTLY reached out His hand and lifted him—demonstrating that needing constant divine help is the DESIGN, not a defect.
I REFUSE the lie that needing God means something's wrong. IT IS WRITTEN that without Him we can do NOTHING, which means needing Him for EVERYTHING is exactly right. My parents' marriage isn't weak because it needs God—it's HUMAN. Every strong marriage is strong because of invisible grace, not superior effort. IT IS WRITTEN that we are branches and fruit comes from abiding, not striving. I declare that my parents' need for God is their greatest STRENGTH, not their weakness. The same Jesus who caught Peter the moment he started sinking is catching my parents' marriage RIGHT NOW. They don't need to be superhuman—they need to be connected to the Vine, and in Him, their marriage will bear fruit AUTOMATICALLY.
The Father doesn't wait for your parents to pull themselves up by their bootstraps—He's already extending His hand like Jesus did to Peter the instant he started sinking. Their need for Him delights Him because dependence is the design, and He's about to show them that abiding produces fruit they could never manufacture through effort.
