"If they had been better parents, I wouldn't be struggling with anxiety and depression now."
How it sounds in your head: My mental health issues are directly caused by their failures. If they had created a safe environment, affirmed me, not fought constantly, I wouldn't be on medication and in therapy. This is their fault and I'm paying the price.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Enemy using past to claim ownership of present, making parental failure bigger than Christ's authority over mental health.
The therapist traced her anxiety back to childhood environment. The timeline makes causation seem obvious—their dysfunction preceded her symptoms.
Sick for 12 YEARS, spent all her money on doctors who made her worse, suffering got progressively worse not better. Jesus healed her INSTANTLY—didn't ask about her childhood, didn't require processing, didn't assign a timeline. 'Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up.'
I REFUSE the lie that my parents' failures have final authority over my mental health. IT IS WRITTEN the chastisement for MY PEACE was upon Jesus, and by His stripes I AM healed—not 'will be,' but AM. My peace is not dependent on their performance but on HIS finished work. IT IS WRITTEN He gives me peace not as the world gives—not through perfect circumstances or perfect parents, but through HIS PRESENCE. Depression and anxiety are under the curse Christ REDEEMED me from. I am blessed with the BARAK—blessed in my mind, blessed in my emotions, blessed coming in and going out. My mental health belongs to JESUS, not my past. I receive INSTANT breakthrough because that's the Father's pattern.
Father didn't wait for the prodigal to 'process his trauma' from pig-pen living before restoring him. The robe, ring, and party came INSTANTLY, smell and all, because the Father's love heals in the embrace, not after the therapy. He's running toward you with PEACE that bypasses understanding, not waiting for you to understand your anxiety.
