"If my faith was real, I wouldn't need these medications."
How it sounds in your head: Real faith healers don't need pills. Every medication I take feels like a confession that I don't really believe God can heal me. I'm trusting pharmacy more than faith.
"No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities."
-- 1 Timothy 5:23Extreme faith teaching that pits medical care against trust in God, creating false dichotomy and dangerous guilt.
You've heard testimonies of people throwing away medications in faith, and yours keep multiplying. Each pill bottle feels like a little monument to unbelief sitting on your counter.
Hezekiah was deathly sick, and God promised through Isaiah to heal him and add 15 years to his life. Yet Isaiah also said, 'Let them take a lump of figs, and apply it as a poultice on the boil, and he shall recover.' God used both promise AND practical medicine—the combination wasn't weak faith but divine wisdom.
I REFUSE the lie that medication equals faith failure. IT IS WRITTEN that Paul prescribed medicine to Timothy, and Isaiah applied a fig poultice to Hezekiah during a supernatural healing. God isn't opposed to medicine—He often partners with it. My faith is in the HEALER, not in rejecting the means He provides. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ, and that includes wisdom to care for this temple. Jesus made mud to heal eyes—He uses physical means for divine purposes. I reject the false dichotomy that pits pills against prayer. I take my medications in FAITH, trusting the God who created the compounds and guides the doctors.
The Father isn't disappointed that you take medications—He's proud you're stewarding the body He gave you. He's the God who uses mud, fig poultices, and pharmacies to accomplish His healing purposes. You're not weak; you're wise.
