"If I had stronger faith like those young guys at church, I'd see the breakthrough I'm praying for."
How it sounds in your head: You see these younger men getting answers to prayer and you wonder what's wrong with you. You've been a believer for decades but your faith feels weaker than theirs. Maybe you're too old, too tired, too cynical now.
"So Jesus said to them, 'Because of your unbelief? Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.'"
-- Matthew 17:20Religion teaches faith as a measurable WORK you produce, making it performance-based rather than Jesus-based.
You've prayed for things that didn't happen while watching newer believers see quick results. Your decades of ups and downs have made you cautious where you used to be bold, and you mistake wisdom for weak faith.
A Roman soldier with zero theological training asked Jesus to heal his servant, and Jesus called it the GREATEST FAITH in all Israel—greater than the priests and rabbis who'd studied for decades. The servant was healed THAT SAME HOUR without the centurion doing anything except recognizing Jesus's authority.
I REFUSE the lie that my faith is weaker because I'm older or more cautious. IT IS WRITTEN that mustard seed faith moves mountains, and my faith is not measured by how hard I TRY to believe but by WHO I believe in. I am Abraham's seed and HEIR according to the promise, covered by the BARAK blessing that protected liars and deceivers—how much more does it cover me in Christ! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus is the Author AND Finisher of my faith, which means HE started it and HE completes it. My faith is not my WORK but my CONNECTION to the Vine. I declare that nothing is impossible because my tiny faith is aimed at an INFINITE God.
The Father isn't waiting for you to muster up stronger belief—He's already running toward you with the answer while your faith is still forming the question. The breakthrough isn't stuck waiting for your faith to grow; it's stuck waiting for you to realize the blessing was already released at the cross.
