"If I'm not constantly serving and doing things for God, I'm failing Him."
How it sounds in your head: I see other kids volunteering and leading stuff at church. I feel lazy if I'm just sitting around. Maybe God thinks I'm not doing enough for Him.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5Religion measures spirituality by activity level, rejecting Jesus' teaching that Mary chose the better part by simply sitting at His feet.
Busyness is praised everywhere—'idle hands are the devil's workshop.' Church culture celebrates servants and volunteers, making rest feel like laziness and intimacy feel like inactivity.
Mary sat at Jesus' feet doing 'nothing' while Martha served frantically. When Martha complained, Jesus defended Mary: 'She has chosen the good part, which will not be taken from her.' Intimacy trumps activity.
I REFUSE the lie that constant service proves my worth. IT IS WRITTEN: I am a branch, and branches ABIDE—they don't strive. Jesus said Mary chose the BETTER part by sitting at His feet. My value isn't in my activity but in my CONNECTION to the Vine. IT IS WRITTEN: Apart from Him I can do nothing, but IN Him fruit is automatic. I am blessed under the BARAK, fruitful by covenant, not by hustle. I declare rest is not laziness—it's FAITH.
The Father isn't standing over you with a to-do list—He's inviting you to sit at His feet. He'd rather have your presence than your service, your heart than your hands, because love is relationship, not labor.
