"If I were really walking with God, I wouldn't struggle with this sin."
How it sounds in your head: Real Christians don't battle this anymore. You're 22 - shouldn't you be past this by now? The fact that you still struggle means you're not really surrendered, not really filled with the Spirit, not really mature.
"For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice."
-- Romans 7:19Source: Religion's instant perfection myth - teaching that true conversion means immediate victory over all sin patterns.
You've been saved for years. Read the books. Been to the conferences. Yet here's the same temptation winning again. Mature believers don't cycle like this. Your repeated failure feels like proof of shallow faith.
Slept with a prostitute, repeatedly compromised with Delilah, broke his vows - yet God still used him to defeat thousands of Philistines and he's listed in Hebrews 11's faith hall of fame. His repeated failure didn't erase his calling.
I REFUSE the lie that struggle proves shallow faith. IT IS WRITTEN that even Paul battled doing what he didn't want to do. Samson repeatedly failed yet remained in God's purpose. My struggle doesn't define my standing - Christ's finished work does. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus. I am righteous NOW by gift, not by victory count.
The Father doesn't roll His eyes at your repeated battle. He sees the fact that you CARE about it as proof of His Spirit in you. Dead branches don't struggle with sin - living ones do. Your fight is evidence of life, not lack of it.
