"If I stop pushing and striving, nothing will happen. God needs my help."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe faith means doing my part so God can do His. If I just sit back and trust, I'll look irresponsible. Surely God expects me to work for this while He works from His end—partnership, not passivity.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5World system sells self-sufficiency as wisdom, making rest feel like irresponsibility and repackaging unbelief as 'doing your part,' turning grace into a joint venture rather than a gift.
Every adult in her life preaches hard work and personal responsibility, making pure trust sound naive. The Protestant work ethic baptizes striving as faith, making rest feel like laziness rather than the highest form of trust.
Israelites were trapped between Pharaoh's army and the Red Sea with zero battle strategy or escape route. Moses said 'Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.' They didn't fight, plan, or strategize—God split the sea instantly while they watched.
I REFUSE the lie that God needs my help. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a branch abiding in the Vine, and apart from Him I can do nothing, but IN Him fruit comes automatically. My job is connection, not production. IT IS WRITTEN that God works in me both to will and to do for His good pleasure. The BARAK blessing flows through me as Abraham's seed based on COVENANT, not collaboration. I release striving and step into REST, where miracles flow from my Father's work, not mine.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to meet Him halfway—He went the whole way to the cross while you were still a sinner. Like the Israelites who stood still and watched God split the sea, your breakthrough doesn't require your partnership; it requires your posture—rest, not striving.
